I have been a scientist and have worked in the scientific support field for the last 35 years. This experience brings an understanding of the importance, and difficulty, of communicating a complex topic to the public.
In March 2015, I completed the year-long requirements for the Copyediting Certificate program at University of California, San Diego Extension.
I have conducted field research on avian communities in north-central Florida, red-cockaded woodpeckers in the Florida Panhandle, and Florida scrub jays in central Florida. After coming back to the West, I worked with an interdisciplinary team to manage forests owned by Oregon State University and later was the office manager for a small online scientific bookstore (ZenScientist.com) in Utah.
My formal education includes a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife from Utah State University and a Master of Science in Forest Resources and Conservation from the University of Florida.
